“V5 Sport” – 1981 Moto Guzzi V50 III Custom

Post Listing Update: This “V5” did not meet reserve despite 12 bids up to $2,520.

When Moto Guzzi first released the V50 in the late 70s, they were met with a tepid response from an American market that preferred bigger bikes and expected smaller bikes to be cheaper. Not many were sold, but this example is truly a 1-of-1 as it’s been customized to look like a mini V7 Sport. What’s your verdict – is this a cute, fun idea or a waste of a build?

The 490cc V-Twin was good for 48 horsepower and a estimated top speed of 109 miles per hour – numbers the V7 Sport would laugh at, but this is more about style. This example (VIN: 100024) has 7,300 miles and highlights of the work include the tank and seat from a V7 Sport, custom paint, custom cylinder guards, Dyna ignition, stainless steel brake lines
