Video Intermission – MotorWeek Motorcycle Retro Reviews

PBS’ MotorWeek is America’s longest running automotive television series – they just aired the 40th episode of their 38th season! But the reason I’m bringing them up to you now is because they also share some “Retro Reviews” on their YouTube page, and reader Larry G let me know that they just shared one from 1993 about the Honda CBR600F2. Turns out the F2 isn’t the only motorcycle that MotorWeek reviewed, so here is all of the bike reviews I was able to find from oldest to newest:

1988 BMW 325is and BMW K100RS Special Edition. They get Gary Nixon to ride the bike in this video, and he makes some comments about the new ABS system. He’s also wearing some AMAZING boots:

1992 Yamaha FZR600

1993 Honda CBR600F2 – it’s staggering how many similarities there are to this bike and the 2019 CBR650R I just reviewed.

A 25 minute special on 1993 Harley-Davidsons. Half of the lines in this video could still be used today:

1995 Ducati 916

1996 Kawasaki ZX-7R

1997 Yamaha Seca II and Honda Nighthawk 750

Buell S1 White Lightning

You could get lost in MotorWeek’s Retro Review playlist, which includes some oddballs such as a “Coal-Powered Turbine Engine Oldsmobile“, a 1921 Stanley Steamer, and even a Bradley Fighting Vehicle! Or, see what they thought the best cars of 1985 were!
