Over on the auction site we’ve got an impressively original example of the bike that Ducati built to celebrate its 200th win in WSBK. The Italian firm released just 200 examples of their top of the line 999R in the Team Ducati FILA livery of 2003 – 75 were supposed to make it to the US but it’s possible that just 67 were initially imported. This one is #5, and per the seller, “the first ten FILA bikes did not come with the stickers applied to the fairings. They were included in a package.”

It’s easy to mock Ducati’s recent special editions as just cosmetic packages, but this bike got some extras – a WSBK inspired swingarm and carbon fiber bodywork, 10 horsepower bump over the standard bike (bringing the L-twin’s output up to a total of 146), magnesium head covers and headlight support, and forged aluminum wheels.

This example (VIN: ZDMIUB5043B00709) is #005 of 200 and it has all of zero miles on the odometer. It;s completely stock, rolling on the original tires, and the sale includes three keys, the original Ducati owner’s manual and toolkit, the factory plaque, a bike cover, an additional Race ECU and Titanium Race exhaust, a size large leather race suit, as well as a set of the unused sponsor decals.

Find this 999R FILA for sale in Long Beach, California with bidding up to $30,000 and the reserve already met here on Iconic Motorbike Auctions.
