A first year example of one of Edward Turner’s best known designs, this Triumph Speed Twin enjoyed a “no-expense spared” restoration some time ago and has since sat in display. Somebody get this beauty back on the road!
This bike is quite a legend as many consider it responsible for the survival of Triumph when it was introduced, and it inspired many similar bikes from British competitors. The Speed Twin obviously yielded more power than the more common singles of the time (27 horsepower), yet it weighed less, too. Early bikes like this first year model were only available in a beautiful Amaranth Red which was paired with gold pinstriping.
This specific Triumph Speed Twin was had a multi-year restoration but has only served display duty since. The seller suggests that it should be in a museum.
