Post Sale Update: This Venom Endurance sold for $9,875 after 27 bids on eBay.

The last time I featured a Velocette Venom Endurance, Paul d’Orleans got right to the point:

I bring up Paul because he’s an expert on the model and because there aren’t many other sources of information on the rare Endurance variant of the Venom. Here are Paul’s notes, which make me wonder why this version is called the “Endurance”:
A little family history; the original Scrambler model was an MSS with a tuned engine, in the standard RS swingarm frame (easy to spot – engine #MSS S xxxx). This engine became the basis of the Venom, with street tinware. The Scrambler diverged into a specialized machine with its own frame, and the Endurance, which is the street version of the original Scrambler (same RS frame as VM/MSS – engine # VMxxxxE). Identical engine to the VM, but smaller tank, alloy mudguards, etc. VM or MSS are the touring machines, as the Endurance has a very small tank…

This example (VIN: RS17674, engine #: VM5672) is being offered by a seller who clearly knows more about Velocettes than I do, and he notes that the bike looks like it was restored some time in the past with approximately 1,500 miles since a motor rebuild (1,000 of which he put on personally). The seller claims that the bike is highly original and “shows very well for a used ridden old motorcycle” with two issues – it has the wrong Chronometric speedo and “a few fasteners look to be incorrect”. He includes plenty of photos and a video so you can take a look for yourself – note the features like MSS wheel hubs, Woodhead Monroe shock absorbers, a 7″ Miller headlamp, Miller ammeter, and more.
