Post-Sale Update: This Bultaco TSS 250 did not get any bites at $40,000.

In 1965, Bultaco created the first 250cc factory production road racer – the Bultaco TSS 250. Just 51 were produced between ’65 and ’66. The Spanish company actually sold this Works racer, also known as the Model 24, directly to their competitor, EMC Motorcycles in England.

Utilizing a double down tube frame, the TSS model also featured a liquid-cooled 250cc two-stroke engine, 6 speed transmission, and a 38mm Amal carb. The wheels are 18″ aluminum Akrons, and the tachometer was a 12,000rpm Smith’s unit. Hard to confirm sources suggest that the engine produced 42 horsepower! This is probably the pinnacle of Bultaco motorcycles.

This specific Bultaco TSS 250 is being offered by a seller that’s using Ginger Molloy as his screen name, which is very interesting. Molloy is one of the original factory Works racers, and the seller claims that this exact bike was the one that “Ramon Torras rode to gain second place in the Spanish GP in 1965. It also won a lot of Spanish National races.” He also claims that the engine has been rebuilt. Cosmetically, it looks quite nice, though it seems to be missing the windscreen.
