1966 Honda S65

In Japan, Small Displacement by AbhiLeave a Comment

You all know that I love the Honda S90, so when reader Mark K. found the little brother Honda S65, I just had to share it with you. 6.2 horsepower, 56 miles per hour, and a claimed 190(!) miles per gallon. What else do you want to know?

Honda S65 - Rear Left

Produced for four years, this bike had a four-stroke engine that could hit 10,000 rpm. I might be biased, but I don’t think the S65 looks as good as the S90. The front fender makes me think of a boat, and I don’t think the scrambler pipe works either. But it’s a cheap way of enjoying two-wheeled bliss with the bonus of actually being able to pin the throttle all the way back in every gear without having to worry about Johnny Law. On the flipside, you’ll have to worry about getting beat off a stoplight by a mom in a Toyota Sienna. If you want to learn more, check out this writeup from Motorcycle Classics.

Honda S65 - Rear Right

This specific Honda S65 is in good shape with the distinctive red paint scheme. You’ll get a new battery, tires, and tubes, and a rear rack that I’ve never seen before, so I’ll tentatively claim it’s an aftermarket piece.

Honda S65 - Right Side
