1970s Gemini SST 50

Post Listing Update: This Gemini did not get any interest at the BIN of $2,300.

Imported for just three years, the Gemini SST 50 was much faster than a Honda 50 thanks to a licensed design of Yamaha’s rotary intake valve engine – last time I featured one of these, multiple commenters said it was faster than the Honda 70, as well. Those in the know suggest that these are some of the fastest mini bikes ever built – the 50cc engine produced 4.5 horsepower and was capable of hitting 35. Wooooo!

The Gemini was built by a Taiwanese company called Shin San Tong and imported to the US by American Steel. Despite the licensing arrangement, Gemini got into legal troubles (I’ve heard unsubstantiated tales that Gemini didn’t pay licensing fees to Yamaha and got sued) and had to stop production in ’72.

This example is a runner in Candy Apple Red that the seller says you can ride as is or restore. The seller notes that the seat cover is reproduction but doesn’t specify if everything else is original. Find this Gemini for sale in Elburn, Illinois with a BIN of $2,300 or best offer
