1973 BSA B50MX

In England, Less than 5k, Off-Road by Ted CloughLeave a Comment

This bike was the end of the line for BSA Singles. They had offered 250’s, 350’s the famous 441 and finally the 500cc B50. B50’s had an extensive racing history, setting records at the Isle of Man, and winning endurance races in the UK at Thruxton and Mallory Park and in Spain at the Monjuic race in Barcelona. This is the motocross version, the B50MX. There was also a Street Scrambler version and a Trail version.

Here’s an example of a road-going version, with all the lights, reflectors and that funky silencer. Is that a 70’s paint color or what?
BSA B50 Road Version

This B50MX is surprisingly original, as most of these were raced, if not when new, then in vintage racing. The original pipes and paint are nice, original tires, not so much…the seller points out it can be a bitch to start, but I bet a little fiddling with the carb and check of electrical connections could sort that out.
