Post Sale Update: After 12 bids on eBay, this Muskin sold for $1,009.
Marketed as a “Midi-Cycle”, the Muskin El Gato wanted to separate itself from minibikes by completely making up a new category of motorcycles.
Utilizing a 80cc Fuji two-stroke (predecessor to all the Hodaka units that would soon make their way to US shores), this bike had 6.6 horsepower with a four-speed transmission and a weight of 125 pounds, which was indeed much larger than competing minibikes. Seat height was 27 inches, so it was small enough for kids, but big enough for adults, helping it’s claim of being an “All Family” bike.
This specific Muskin El Gato has just 50 miles, and looks great with the exception of some rust on the exhaust pipe and on the chain guard. Surprisingly, the seller claims that this bike starts and runs perfectly – unsurprisingly, the seller also claims that you’ll be the envy of anyone at Hodaka Days (the latter might actually be true).

Note that a 1970 spec in excellent restored condition sold for $1,150 at a Bonham’s auction almost exactly a year ago in Vegas.
