Post Sale Update: This Commando sold for $13,400 after 30 bids on eBay.

1974 was a tough time for Norton Villiers Triumph – England’s government withdrew a subsidy early in the year, and that was just the beginning of their problems. The biggest issue was a sit in at Meriden, and it was one of the major reasons why by the end of the year the company had lost over 3 million pounds. Despite that, the Commando was as beautiful as ever, and the recent 850cc motor was a pleasant upgrade. The black with gold pinstripe livery is probably the best known of the paint schemes, but I adore the red/white/blue visuals of this example.

This bike (VIN: 850F103411) was acquired by the seller two years ago from the estate of a motorcycle restorer in Knoxville, Tennessee. It was a previous Best of Show winner, and the seller suggests that this Commando is “probably best described as a show bike” with vibrant paint, new Excel rims, a single Mikuni carb to replace the original Amal, and a Viking exhaust.

The seller has put 315 miles on this Norton in the last two years, and he says it runs great. It has spent the last 12 months in storage without gasoline. Find this 850 Commando for sale in Asheville, North Carolina with bidding up to $11,600
