1981 Harley Sportster Limited Edition

In 1981, got its independence from AMF thanks to a group of 13 investors led by Vaughn Beals and Willie G. To celebrate this, they released a few limited editions, including the Milwaukee Edition, and this bike, called the Limited Edition or the Series One. 1,000 were built, and this is #283.

As you’d probably expect, the modifications were just paint – but it’s an interesting scheme. This example has 27,600 miles and is claimed to be in very good to excellent condition with some chrome pitting. The engine was rebuilt 7,000 miles ago, and the ‘limited’ paint job looks good.
