Post Listing Update: This IT175 did not get any interest at the opening bid of $2,000.

Back in the 1980’s, there was a simple recipe for power: put oil in the gas and spin it fast. MotoGP bikes of the era subscribed to this formula, and it trickled down even to off-roaders. The Yamaha IT175 subscribed to this formula. It was based on Yamaha’s YZ125 motocross bike, but with more displacement and factory head and taillights, it was geared towards trail and enduro riding. The IT family DNA lives on through the current WR series.

This 1982 model was clearly somebody’s baby, and has had an engine out refresh of the mechanicals. The frame was sanded and repainted, the forks were rebuilt, the shock refreshed, and the engine has had a rebuild complete with a honed cylinder, fresh seals, fresh rings, and a new air filter. The headlight setup appears to be aftermarket, but has indicators which probably were necessary for being ‘plated,’ according to the listing. With a staring bid of $2,000, would you take this to get your coffee or straight to the trails?
