1987 Yamaha FZ700

Over on the auction site we’ve got one of the nicest examples of Yamaha’s tariff-beating sportbike that I’ve seen in a while – the FZ700!

We actually just sold Nick Ienatsch’s FZ750 last week but this example is the de-stroked version (697cc) that was offered for just one year to get around the 49.4% tariff that the feds put on imported bikes over 700cc. For more on the Tariff Busters and what makes bikes like the FZ700 unique, check out this piece on Revzilla.

This example (VIN: JYA2KT004HA000315) has just 4,283 and it appears to be in excellent survivor/rider condition. It’s rare to find one of these that’s completely stock – no cut rear fender, no aftermarket turn signals, no aftermarket exhaust. Just what rolled off the manufacturing line from Yamaha (for better or worse).

Find this FZ700 for sale in Lincolnton, North Carolina with bidding up to $3,100 here on Iconic Motorbike Auctions.
