Post Sale Update: After being relisted, this Ducati sold for $4,500 after 12 bids on eBay in Sonoma, California.

SP = Sport Production, and it was a variant of the 900 SuperSport that was only available in North America.

If you’re looking for performance, this was the version of the SS that you wanted, thanks to the wider rear rim, fully adjustable front and rear suspension, aluminum swingarm, carbon fiber front fender/clutch cover, and a full fairing. Despite that, it was still relatively comfortable – a sportbike that you could enjoy every day. In this piece on Cycle World, Peter Egan says that this 900SS is “the used motorcycle you need” and notes that “they made perfectly comfortable long-distance touring bikes, but on winding roads through the Black Hills, they metamorphosed back into sportbikes of deep finesse, with killer, real-world midrange and light, intuitive handling.”

This example (VIN: ZDM1LC4M6SB015107) has approximately 16,500 miles on the odometer and the seller says it “runs like a top all day long”. It’s equipped with Keihin FCR 41 carbs, oil cooler relocation kit, billet aftermarket clutch salve cylinder, OEM Euro headlight switch (allows you to turn the headlight completely off) MBP Desmo valve retaining system, evap system delete, and aftermarket heated grips. In addition, it’s got the red front fender and mirrors off of a 888, and I think it’s a visual improvement. You may not agree.

As the seller puts it, “if you are looking for an SS from this era and want to ride it regularly plus have it look near factory original, this is the bike for you.” If that sounds like you, find this SS/SP for sale in Sonoma, California with bidding up to $3,000 and the reserve not yet met here on eBay.
