If the 190 horsepower of a stock Hayabusa isn’t enough for you, then TTS Performance in England makes a supercharger kit that can get you up to 370 horsepower and 190 foot-pounds of torque! Today’s featured ‘busa has said kit and it’s been built to keep the “appearance as stock as possible.” The seller states that this bike makes an …
2 Miles – 1976 Harley-Davidson SX250
When Yamaha introduced the instantly-successful DT-1, it quickly led to copies from the rest of the Japanese Big Four…and pretty much everyone else, also. Harley’s attempt with their new Italian parents was the SX175 and SX250. They weren’t nearly as successful, but it’s still interesting to find one almost 50 years later that’s only been rolled around for two miles.
Freddie Spencer Tribute in England – 1982 Honda CB900F
This cool tribute combines some Freddie Spencer-inspired classic looks with modern performance upgrades – and a Suzuki 1100cc engine!
1995 Yamaha TRX850
As it was never officially sold in the US, Yamaha’s TRX850 is a bike that I don’t see very often. But with MCN calling it (in hindsight) “the best-kept secret in motorcycling” and a “forgotten gem,” it’s definitely worth a closer look. The oversimplified idea was that this was a “Ducati with Japanese reliability.“
2003 Honda Solo
The Solo was announced in March of 2003 as a “cheery, stylish, around-town leisure bike” with an air-cooled 50cc single pulled from the Super Cub. It was the fourth model in what Honda called the “N Project”, a series of two-wheelers “designed to deliver to its owners the pleasure of owning and riding a bike that serves as a fashion …
Honda Powered in England – 1980 Rickman Metisse
I’ve featured several Rickmans here on Bike-urious over the years and while I’ve seen Honda engines utilized in their street bikes, I had never seen one used in the off-roader Metisse…until now!
No Reserve – 1965 Ducati 250 Race Bike
Over on the auction site we’ve got a beautiful Ducati 250 race bike – is it too pretty to race?
1968 Harley-Davidson XLR
In Harley’s long history, one of their rarer creations is the XLR 883 – a bike built to compete in AMA Grand National TTs after the race organization lowered max displacement from 1,300 cc to 900 cc.
Titanium Frame – Custom Ducati SportClassic
The custom work on this Ducati SportClassic is extensive but the highlight is clear – a one-off titanium frame from Randy Martin at StradaFab!
Video Intermission – Welcome to Jurassic Park!
Over at Iconic we’re going to have an interesting twist on the popular RC51 for sale. It looks like it’s never had gas in the tank so I didn’t fire it up but I did want to film a little “Bike of the Day” video on it and I thought you guys might appreciate it a small oddball piece of …
Guest Challenge – The $5,000 Window Shop Tour
Walter Barlow is throwing down the gauntlet with a challenge of finding some cool bikes for sale on the world wide web for $5k. This resonates strongly with me as I’ve always had “categories” of bikes you can filter with here on Bike-urious, and only one of them is price based: Less than 5k. So, what do you got?
Factory Special – 2023 Husqvarna FR450 Rally
Just like their sister brand KTM, Husqvarna offers a production replica of their 450 Rally bikes that privateers can purchase for their own racing (or adventures). They are very similar bikes though the Husky does seems to be a bit harder to find.
Picture Intermission – The Sensation of Suzuki
Here’s a fun little extra I stumbled upon at work – Suzuki USA’s 1983 model sales guide – a reference guide for sales people at Suzuki dealerships to help move units with helpful tips like, “when your prospect asks how much, the sale is ready to be closed!“
1986 Yamaha FZ600
After years of compromising with their middleweight sportbike, trying to provide riders with all-around flexibility, Yamaha decided to go all out with their first ‘race replica’ – the Yamaha FZ600. Designed to capture some of the increased interest in MotoGP, this bike got the “PURE SPORTS” decal so you knew they weren’t messing around.
1972 Bultaco Alpina 250
After the success of the Sherpa T, Bultaco released the Alpina 250, a bike specifically built for enduro riders.
