Post Sale Update: These RDs sold for $6,000 after 24 bids on eBay.

With regards to road bikes, Yamaha was a great ambassador of two-stroke technology with its RD models. By 1976, Yamaha pushed its 350cc RD to 400cc, which gave it 44hp, a top speed of about 105mph, and made anyone riding it a “hooligan”. Read the interesting story of Ken Manina on Motorcyclist to get a great example of a RD400 lover.

The two RD400s (Green VIN: 1A1-013740 / Red VIN: 1A1-015360) presented here seem to be in great condition, one has a title but the other does not. The green example shows 14k miles and the red one shows 20k miles. The seller claims that both were riding perfectly the last time he used them – though it’s not clear how long ago that was.
