Launched in 1976 as the big kahuna of the RD line, the RD400 was known as a hooligan’s bike. Here’s one in “very nice condition” up north in Alaska.

View PostVideo Intermission – Motorcycles for the Handicapped
This is a brief video, but it’s worth a watch. Catur Bambang is a mechanic who lost his legs in a work accident. Cars aren’t cheap in Indonesia, so he designed a motorcycle that can be ridden by people who are disabled. He builds 7 bikes a month and prices start at $300: (sorry, can’t embed this video, you’ll have …

View Post1972 Hodaka Wombat
Found in the 60s, Hodaka was a joint Japanese/American company that produced about $150k bikes between ’64 and ’78. Some riders believe that Hodaka started the trail bike revolution. 1970 Moto Guzzi Nuovo Falcone
Before Guzzi became famous for their venerable V-Twin, they were known for the flat single found in the Airone/Falcone. The Nuovo Falcone was the imaginatively-named successor to the Falcone, produced between ’69 and ’76.

View PostVideo Intermission – Hitting the Apex Trailer
Did you know that someone’s making a MotoGP documentary that’ll be shown in cinemas (at least in England)? Called Hitting the Apex, it follows six riders (tragically including Simoncelli) over the last several years, and it’s a rare opportunity for us to see our favorite mode of transportation on the big screen.
Guess That Bike – Full Bike Edition
Reader Jeff C. shared a few photos with me of his newest acquisition, and it’s a rare one. It’s been a long time since I’ve had one of these posts, but I think it’s time to play “Guess That Bike”!
