Baby Blue Brit – 1996 Royal Enfield Bullet 500

Post-Sale Update: Huh.  Despite 29 bids, this Royal Enfield Bullet 500 did not meet reserve as bidding only got up to $2,550.  We expected it would get higher, but that’s why we don’t claim to be psychics!

The Royal Enfield Bullet is a classic British single that has the longest continuous production run of any bike ever – it’s been around since 1948! Due to the influences of British colonization, the Indian Army began to order so many Bullets that Royal Enfield decided to open a factory in India. For nearly four decades, the bike was produced unchanged in India (even though RE closed down completely in England in 1970).

Royal Enfield Bullet 500 - Right Side

In 1995, Enfield India invested serious money to take over the property rights of Royal Enfield, and tried to modernize the lineup. Increasingly strict emissions laws meant it took until 2009 for the Bullet to make it to the United States, making these gray market imports very rare – and in our eyes, much cooler. Slight styling cues look nicer on this model, as do the color options. Check out Royal Enfield’s site for the US to see their current model lineup.

Royal Enfield Bullet 500 - Gauges

This specific Royal Enfield Bullet 500 has just over 1,000 miles, and looks absolutely beautiful. Because it’s been sitting a while, the seller has gone through it and now it’s a first or second-kick bike. It’s very difficult to find a pre-2009 Bullet in the states, especially one that looks this nice.
