Despite KTM’s 690 Enduro R being a competent off-roader, it still left something to be desired for die-hard rally fans. Enter KTM Basel AG, a dealership for the Ready To Race brand based in Northern Switzerland. In 2013, they introduced the Quest Kit, a high-end collection of parts that transforms the stock 690 into a bona fide rally machine.

The kit — which retails for approximately $6,000 — boasts full Dakar-style bodywork (with navigation tower) comprised of four fiberglass pieces with high-stress areas reinforced with kevlar. The kit also boasts a whopping 8.45 gallon fuel capacity, split between dual 2.3 gallon tanks up front and a 3.6 gallon fuel-cell in back. 690s equipped with the Basel Quest Kit can supposedly cover almost 500 miles on a single tank. The trio of tanks have also been designed to optimize weight distribution.

This particular 2010 KTM 690 Enduro R has been fitted with the Basel kit, as well as a heap of other off-road-oriented components. FreeToRide Electric Roadbook, ICO Racing Dual Sport VRL Enduro computer kit, TrailTech Vapor digital gauge (with GPS), Tractive hydraulic preload adjuster, Scotts steering damper, BRP bar risers, FastWay hand-guards, Rally Raid sprocket cover billet sprocket guard, waterproof USB socket, and a carbon fiber skid-plate with internal tool compartment are just some of this examples aftermarket bits. The Selle Dalla Valle saddle that comes with the Basel kit has been replaced with a Renazco seat with custom Dakar stitching.

San Francisco’s Super Plush Suspension was tasked with reworking this examples 43mm forks and rear-shock with new springs and valving. The current owner reportedly replaced the battery recently as well. The factory exhaust system has been jettisoned for a custom low-pipe capped off with a Leo Vince muffler. The seller also says they have “all the spares to go with it”.

You can find this Basel Quest-kitted 2010 KTM 690 Enduro R for sale here on Craigslist in Campbell, California with a price of $14,750.
