Revival Cycles is a well-known shop in Austin, Texas that has made some great custom bikes in the past, like the R NineT Bison, which has a little cameo as it gets photographed in this tour of their shop: Revival Cycles Shop Tour from Revival Cycles on Vimeo.
Video Intermission – Salt of the EarthView Post
At 90 minutes long, this is basically a feature film. But this promotional film from Yamaha Europe was offered at dealerships as inspiration when you bought a (Super) Tenere in the early 90s. It’s long, but it’s beautiful: Embedding the video has been disabled, so you’ll have to go here to see it directly on YouTube.
I love Top Gear (RIP, sort of) but because of Clarkson’s hatred of motorcycles, they rarely used their fantastic production budgets on 2-wheeled vehicles. Here’s one of the rare examples. Yes, it’s obviously staged, don’t be a wise ass. Just enjoy Dougie Lampkin riding like a maniac. Clips like this make me want to buy a trials bike:
Another instant classic from RNickeyMouse, this video shows what happens when: 1.) Someone parks a car where bikes have been known to go wide in the past. 2.) A rider exhibits a pretty incredible case of target fixation. I feel bad for both parties but it’s pretty humorous to see the guy have his car hit just seconds after parking …
This is a special Video Intermission because it features a Bike-urious reader!
If you’re a regular reader of Bike-urious (or just a motorcycle fan in general), you’re probably familiar with Paul D’Orleans, also known as The Vintagent. In collaboration with Susan McLaughlin, he’s got a side project called MotoTintype that focuses on a very interesting photography method called wet plate or collodion photography.

From reader Dave H comes a little anecdote about the late Doug Domokos, also known as “The Wheelie King“:
If you’re a big fan of difficult enduro riding and you’re ready to lose a good chunk of your work day, check out the YouTube channel of Enduro KeX. Here’s one of their most entertaining videos, basically a crash compilation that they call the Enduro Crash Test:
Every year, an impressively difficult enduro race called “The Tough One” takes over rural England. It’s currently sponsored by Red Bull, which means there’s a well-produced video to accompany the event – enjoy this recap:
As if you needed more proof that Chris Pfeiffer is incredibly talented, here’s a clip of him taking on a trials course – on a MX bike:
The Subaru BR-Z was released to much fanfare a couple of years ago as a sports car for the masses. Unfortunately, some consumers felt the 200 horsepower boxer engine didn’t provide enough oomph (and that’s a debate for another day). You may be wondering why this belongs on a motorcycle site. Well, a company named Synergy Race Engines in Australia …
Reader Dan P shared this short film with me, an entertaining tale of motorcyclists who feel obligated to save a Ducati 900 Desmo Super Sport from a life as sculpture in the living room of an art collector. It’s called the Italian Machine, and it’s the work of none other than David Cronenberg. “A guy like that makes me want …
I’ve said many times before that one of my favorite videos involving motorcycles is the Top Gear special in Vietnam – if you have an hour to kill, check it out here. If you don’t have an hour to kill, here’s a 23 minute video of 6 skateboarders riding Vietnam from North to South, stopping to board when they want. …
