This weekend was the opening of this year’s Monster Energy Supercross season, and the racing in Angel Stadium in Anaheim yielded one of the weirder highlights you’ll probably see from the SX season. I’m not going to cast any judgment about what brought about why punches were thrown – but why punch the lid?

Good lord, street circuits are terrifying.
Picture Intermission – Custom Rumble Scrambler Contest
The Custom Rumble is a competition between Ducati dealerships to see who created the best custom based on a Ducati Scrambler. There are now 40 finalists from 6 different continents, and some of them are really nice.
Video Intermission – Norton’s Tunnel of Love
After sharing the weird BMW K1200R video a few days ago, some of you made me aware of other motorcycle-sponsored videos that you’ve enjoyed (or detested). Here’s one of the former, sponsored by Triumph but starring a Commando.
Video Intermission – BMW K1200R “Respect”
A couple of weeks after I picked up my new-to-me K12R a couple of years ago, a friend reminded me of the bizarre “Respect” video that BMW released as part of their promotion of the bike. It didn’t make sense to me when it was introduced a decade ago, and it doesn’t make sense to me now, but let’s go …
40 Years Later – Commando vs R90S
As I put together a sequel to the “Best Motorcycle Books” post from a week ago, Peter Egan’s name obviously keeps coming up. Motorcycle-USA just featured a fun little photo album of the Brit bikes exhibited at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham, England. Come check it out!

Honda CB fans are well aware of the ‘Sandcast’ bikes – the first 7,414 CB750s were built with cheap/rough sandcast molds for the engine, before it became clear to Soichiro Honda that there was enough demand for these bikes to justify the expenditure on expensive metal molds. Bike-urious fans are well aware that I’m a big fan of good restoration …

View PostVideo Intermission – Police Bike Shootout
I can’t be the only person who has wondered what it would be like to shoot a gun while riding a bike (at targets, not at people!). Well, this video of a South African police officer will give you some idea of the process. Wow.
Picture Intermission – The Customs of EICMA
EICMA has come and gone (and for Americans, the Progressive International Motorcycle Show is making the rounds), and while the focus of both shows were premiers of new models, there were some customs to enjoy as well.
Video Intermission – Riding in Eastern Oregon
I’ve featured the work of Gregor Halenda before – normally he amazes behind the camera, but in this video he’s in front of the lens and on a bike. Not just any bike, but a custom two wheel drive KTM Adventure.
