1964 Moto Beta XTR 100

In Dual-Sport, Italy, Less than 5k by AbhiLeave a Comment

Yes, this is the same Beta that you can get an impressive off-roader from nowadays, but 50 years ago they offered a complete range of small dual-sports and street bikes. The seller calls this a MC 100, but I really think it’s a XTR – any Moto Beta experts out there know for sure?

Post Listing Update: This FTR did not meet reserve with one bid at the opening ask of $1,999 on eBay in Bethany, Oklahoma. Nowadays, the “FTR” model is heavily associated with Indian and the FTR1200. But Honda beat them to the punch with a motorcycle that was never officially sold in the US, their own Flat Track Racing inspired FTR223! …

“TT Special” – 1969 AJS 250 Stormer

In America, Off-Road by AbhiLeave a Comment

Post Listing Update: This Stormer did not get any interest at the opening bid of $7,500. The AJS Stormer was a bit of a flop, as it was a last ditch effort by Norton-Villiers to dump excess inventory of Starmaker engines. Because of that, I rarely see them come up for sale – let alone customized ones like this “TT …

1967 Italjet Conquistador

In Italy, Small Displacement by AbhiLeave a Comment

Post Listing Update: This Conquistador was pulled off of eBay due to “an error in the listing.” I’ve featured a Conquistador before (though it was a project), yet I still know basically nothing about it. Previously, I only knew of one running example (at the MotoDoffo collection), but this makes number 2.

In Canada – 2006 Yamaha MT-01

In Japan, Sport by AbhiLeave a Comment

Post Listing Update: This MT-01 was pulled off of eBay, final sale price unknown. The original “Master of Torque”, Yamaha’s MT-01 was never officially sold in the US. But other lucky markets were able to buy it between 2005 and 2012, and it was a fascinating combination of a cruiser V-Twin motor in a large naked sportbike package.

In Germany, Sport by AbhiLeave a Comment

I’ve had a K1200R for a bit over six years now, and I absolutely adore it. However there are a few issues that I tried to rectify (such as the fueling and the clutch feel). I heard that the K1300R fixed most of the issues…but BMW decided that the new bike wasn’t worth selling in the US so I never …

1989 Honda VTR250 Interceptor

In Japan, Sport by AbhiLeave a Comment

Post Listing Update: This VTR250 did not get any interest at the BIN of $1,550. Confusingly, the seller then decided to relist it for more money ($1,650). When that didn’t sell, he went up to $1,950. When that didn’t sell, he went up to $2,150! You can probably guess how that went. Sold in the US for three years, the …

VIN #1 – 1978 Harley-Davidson MX250

In America, Off-Road by AbhiLeave a Comment

In the late 70s, Harley was in a phase of small-displacement bikes while under the control of AMF. They decided to dabble in the world of motocross, and had their Italian branch, Aermacchi, build the Harley-Davidson MX250. It was the first (and only) HD MX bike, and it only lasted for one year. This one’s a bit special as it’s …

Jeff Weier Resto – 1968 Suzuki T500 Cobra

In Japan, Standard by AbhiLeave a Comment

Post Sale Update: This Cobra sold for $11,500 after 57 bids on eBay in Suffern, New York…but the sale didn’t go through and now it’s been relisted. Otherwise known as the T500, the Suzuki Cobra was very short-lived. Sort of. After just one year, Ford told Suzuki that the Cobra name was already accounted for, and that they should figure …
