Colin Seeley is a former sidecar racer who became famous as a motorcycle designer. Some of his most notable work came right after he retired from sidecar racing competition, where he built frames for racing motorcycles utilizing Matchless and AJS engines. 1973 Moto Guzzi V7 Sport
Post Listing Update: This V7 Sport did not meet reserve despite 18 bids up to $12,099. My favorite Guzzi in my favorite paint scheme – this bike can’t go wrong! Built specifically by Lino Tonti to honor Guzzi’s racing legacy, the V7 Sport is considered by some to be the prettiest production cafe to come out of any factory.
Homologation Special in Canada – 1996 Kawasaki ZX7RR N-1
Post Sale Update: After 13 bids on eBay, this ZX7RR sold for $10,000. In 1996, Kawasaki’s production 750 sport bike was the ZX7R. But that year, like in certain years prior, they also produced a homologation special with a whole bunch of extra parts and an extra R at the end. Meet the ZX7RR N-1. Estimates suggest that 20 of …
In Canada – 1989 BMW K100RS Special Edition
The BMW K100RS SE, or Special Edition, was a limited run of the K100RS that featured a lovely blue and white paint job, hand drawn pin stripes, and color-matched hard luggage. It’s also famous for being the motorcycle that introduced ABS to the market.
Ending Soon – 2007 BMW R1200S
When it was released, the R1200S was BMW’s sportiest-ever take on the boxer engine. Whereas the R11S was almost a 50/50 balance of sport and touring, the R12S was marketed much more towards the former with slogans like “born in heaven, raised in hell”. When it was first announced, BMW didn’t even offer factory luggage as an option, though that …
1958 Gilera 150 Sport
I’ve always thought Gilera’s 150 Sport was one of the prettiest motorcycles to come out of Italy at the time, so I’m excited to share this restored example (though it’s sat for a little bit). Plus, more bikes should have pedestrian slicers.
In Canada – 1983 Suzuki XN85 Turbo
Post Listing Update: This XN85 only got up to $2,510 after 18 bids on eBay, where it understandably did not meet reserve. The rarest of all Japanese production turbo bikes, the XN85 Turbo had just 1,183 example produced, and 300 were imported to the US. Here’s a non-US model currently residing in Canada which is ready for a new owner.
Rare Italian – 1955 Monviso 150 Sport
Post Listing Update: This Monviso did not meet reserve after 26 bids up to $2,324. Monviso is a barely-known Italian manufacturer that produced bikes between 1951-1956, utilizing Sachs engines. Here’s a 147cc (150) Sport, which definitely shows its 60 years of age, but I adore it. It’s been quite a challenge to find details on Monviso – have you ever …
Tricolore Hot Rod – 1995 Ducati 900SS/SP
Before the desmoquattro, there was the desmodue, or two-valve, belt-drive, air-cooled engines powering the Ducati Supersports. The 900SS series, produced from 1991-1998, used the 904cc air/oil-cooled engine derived from the Ducati Paso and available with a full-fairing or the half-faired -CR. The North American market was also blessed with a low production model designated the -SP, or “Sport Production.”
1 of 150 – 2007 Ducati 999S Team USA Replica
Ducati has a habit of adding cosmetic packages to their “R” bikes (typically the top of the line) and making race reps out of them – like the Xerox, Bayliss, or Fila replicas. When they decided to commemorate their participation in AMA Superbike, they weirdly decided to use the 999S instead of the R as the base of the Team …
1991 Buell RS 1200/5 Westwind
View PostHomologation Special – 1992 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-7R K2
Post-Listing Update: This Ninja was pulled off of eBay, final sale price unknown. The “K” model of the ZX-7R, built between 91-92, was a homologation special built in limited numbers (500 examples) so Kawi could go racing in AMA Superbike. 142 examples were exported to the US, with an asking price that was nearly twice what Kawasaki charged for the …
Final Edition – 1998 Ducati Supersport 900FE
To mark the end of its badass Supersport line, Ducati released a one-year run of 800 bikes around the world. They called it the Final Edition, painted it silver, and threw on a couple of goodies like 41mm FCR carbs and Ohlins rear shock. 300 of the 800 examples made it over the US – here’s number 15.
Do You Believe? 1948 Norton ES2
If you believe the seller, this Norton has competed in the Isle of Man TT and was ‘clocked’ doing 110 miles per hour on a downhill during the race. More recently, it placed 2nd in the Classic category at the Garage Brewed Moto Show in Cincinnati.
1983 Laverda RGS 1000
Post Sale Update: This Laverda RGS sold for $11,601 after 6 bids on eBay. A true sport tourer, the Laverda RGS one of the last manifestations of the big triple, though it was much tamer than the beloved Jota unit thanks to different crankshaft timing and rubber engine mounts. Some felt that the engine lost a bit of character in …
