An early build from Deus Ex Machina, “The Mono” started as a 1978 Yamaha SR500 that was built at their HQ in Australia and owned by actor Orlando Bloom before being shipped over to their Los Angeles building in Venice, California.
Highights of the work including a 542cc big bore kit, flowed head, flat slide carb, Ohlins fork, a monoshock conversion with Ohlins shock and longer swingarm, Braking 4-piston caliper, braided brake lines, XT-style alloy tank, Kawasaki W650 seat, and wider spoked wheels that make the bike look smaller than it is – it gives me Yamaha TW200 vibes. Not sure if that’s good or bad.
This ADVRider post states that Deus was asking for $25k AUD for the bike in 2010 (two years after the photo I showed of Orlando up top was taken). Find “The Mono” for sale in Manhattan Beach, California for $28,000 here on Craigslist.
