Post Listing Update: This Metisse did not meet reserve despite 33 bids up to $15,850 on eBay.

After Pat French passed away in 2007, his business partner Gerry Lisi continued the tradition of Rickman Metisse builds under the name “Metisse Motorcycles Limited“. In 2012, the company announced a “Mark 5” lineup, an attempt to cosmetically evolve the classic Rickman design. But the firm is better known for a run of 300 replicas of Steve McQueen’s Desert Racer based on the Mark 3 Metisse. This example is similar to those bikes, though the seller had a few modifications done.

This bike was a one-off build that was commissioned in October 2016 and delivered to the seller in Arizona in April 2017. Adorned in the same Battleship Gray, it looks a lot like the McQueen Desert Racer build but it’s got a 750cc Triumph motor instead of the 650cc that was offered in the replica run. In addition, this beauty comes with a polished alloy gas tank which looks amazing by itself but doesn’t really flow with the rest of the paint, in my opinion. The seller estimates that the bike has covered approximately 300 miles and he calls it “flawless”.

Love the tank, I just don’t think it works with the rest of the bodywork in battleship gray.
