One Year Only – 1990 Honda NS50F

In Japan, Small Displacement by AbhiLeave a Comment

Just for 1990, America got a taste of Honda’s NSF50F two stroke “sport” bike. Despite the diminutive size, it’s a street legal bike with a claimed top speed of 55 miles per hour. It makes me think of a MB5 that got updated with liquid cooling and then painted by a Miami coke dealer. I want one.

Per Motorcyclist Magazine, only approximately 200 were imported to the US. It featured a 6-speed transmission with drum brakes on both ends and 17 inch wheels. Honda offered three accessories for this bike – a chin fairing, a full fairing (basically the chin with a lower fairing), and a tach. I think the chin fairing really completes the baby sportbike styling. For more on this little Honda, check out this summary on Tanshanomi’s Snap Judgments.

This example has 3,400 miles and is said to be in ‘good to excellent original condition.’ There’s a scratch on the tank and the oil pump has been disconnected so you have to run premix, plus the front turn signals and rear view mirrors are non-OEM. On the plus side, it has a new battery, chain, and a fresh set of rubber. Find this NSF50F for sale in Lompoc, California for $2,500 here on Craigslist. That’s the highest asking price I’ve seen for one of one of these, but it’s a runner that’s registered and is ready to go.
