Post Listing Update: This HP2 Sport did not meet reserve despite 20 bids up to $11,099 on eBay in Dickerson, Maryland.
The BMW HP2 Sport is one of the rarest bikes from the last few decades of BMW motorcycles. It certain ways, it was a tough sell. Loosely based on the R1200S, this was a very pricey and exclusive sportbike that put down less power than its competitors due to the limits of the venerable boxer engine.
But if you didn’t need class-leading power, the HP2 rewarded riders with a glorious sound, tremendous brakes (with minimal dive thanks to the Telever front suspension), relatively spacious seating, and a GP dashboard that feels right at home on the track. The hefty price tag also included PVM forged aluminum wheels, Brembo brakes, and Marzocchi suspension. It was the pinnacle of sporty R-bikes, as BMW moved on with the S1000RR platform aftewards.
This example (VIN: WB10468009ZS70179) has 5,408 miles and it’s being offered by the original owner, who acquired it in the spring of 2010. It was last serviced 1,000 miles ago and the seller has all maintenance records (all factory recalls have been performed). The seller is letting go of a collection of bikes as he can no longer ride.
