Thought Exercise – Harley’s New CEO

In Blog by AbhiLeave a Comment

As I’m sure you’ve heard by now, Harley-Davidson’s got a new President and CEO starting in October: Artie Starrs.

Mr. Starrs was previously CFO of Rave Cinemas, CEO of Pizza Hut, and CEO of Topgolf. No, those don’t sound very motorcycle-related to me either, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing assuming he’s into motorcycles personally though I’m admittely concerned when Harley puts out a press release about him on their investor page and it doesn’t mention anything about him riding, just that “Artie understands the special place Harley-Davidson occupies in culture and in the lives of our riders. I’m confident that Artie can further enhance this connection with current riders while bringing new people into the H-D community.”

I’ve seen over the years that Bike-urious readers are a bit more knowledgeable than the average motorcyclist, so I’d like to throw out a little thought experiment for fun: if you had a made up position at Harley-Davidson called Assistant to the CEO, what would you tell the new guy to do? No wrong answers, I’m just curious what you folks think!

Unrelated but October 1st is also when I fly out to Barber for AHRMA racing and the Vintage Festival. Hope to see you out there!
