1965 Ducati Diana MK3

What makes a motorcycle? Is it the look? Is it the motor? Is it the frame? What actually constitutes how you identify a bike? Take this one for instance. Listed on eBay as a 1965 Ducati Diana MK3 it may have started life as a GT. It was restored as a Diana MK3, but it has a Sebring motor in it. I don’t know. You make the call.

Taken as listed, this Ducati has a 340 CC air cooled 4 stroke Overhead Cam single cylinder motor that puts out 20 HP with a 5 speed transmission (the Diana had a 4 speed) and a weight of 265 LBS (unless it is the GT frame) should put top speed somewhere near 90 MPH. That is a lot of variables, and there is one more. The Sebring 350 came out in 1966 and if it happens to be a 1967 or newer it would have a desmodromic valve set up which would probably up the performance.

This listing is a little vague. It is listed as a fully restored 1965 Ducati Diana MK3 (VIN: DM250GT94531) with a 350 cc motor on it. Which didn’t come out until 1966. It is obviously a custom creation. The bike lives in Prescott, AZ and is listed with a current bid of $3,383 and the reserve not met

I think it’s a gorgeous piece, I’m just not sure what to call it. Being as it is in Prescott, if you are at all interested, I would be happy to go up and look it over for you, It’s a great road to get there 🙂 If you want me to go look, just leave a message on this thread.
