1965 Harley-Davidson FLH Electra Glide

In America, Cruiser by AbhiLeave a Comment

1965 was the last year of the Panhead and the first year of the electric starter – the latter is what led to the name of “Electra Glide”. 6,900 examples of the FLH were built that year.

The ’65 FLH got a 5 gallon fuel tank called the “Turnpike”, and the motor produced 55 horsepower thanks to a compression ratio of 8:1. As the first year of the Electra Glide, this bike has some additional value to collectors and it doesn’t hurt that it’s also got the factory windscreen and luggage. This example had 52,000 miles on it before the seller had the top end rebuilt and a new speedometer/odometer installed at the time. It has done 10,000 miles since. Other work include rebuilt hubs/wheels 8,000 miles ago, new spokes, new bearings, and a complete rewiring of the electrical system. Everything is said to work and the seller notes that extra chrome has been added.
