5-23-17 Update: This Continental did not get any action at the BIN of $7,250 a couple of months ago, so it’s now back up for sale in an auction format and we’ll see how the market values it. Find it in Ojai, California with bidding up to $2,125 and the reserve not yet met

Royal Enfield claimed that the Continental GT was “Britain’s Fastest 250” based on a 73 mile per hour average speed of a lap around Silverstone.

The 250cc four-stroke engine produced 21 horsepower – the entire package was rounded out with a 5-speed transmission and the distinctive red paint (which was brought back for the new Continental GT). Want more information? Check out Royal Enfield’s page on the history of the CGT.

This example (VIN: GT17871) has 1,795 miles, though it’s unclear how many of those came after the bike was restored in the late 90s by Baxter Cycle. For the last 18 years, it has been on display at a private shop. Everything is said to work and it looks great.
