Some of you may be familiar with what MAX BMW did just a few months ago – they built a R90S just from parts acquired out of BMW Motorrad’s OEM supply! It should be noted that the total of parts was about $46,000. In a similar story, Patrick Godet of Godet Motocycles has been building ‘new’ Egli-Vincents. What’s an Egli-Vincent, you ask? Vincent Egli Godet - Right Side

Fritz Egli is a former Swiss motorcycle racer who made a tremendous name for himself by building custom frames out of his speed shop. One of his first creations was a Vincent Black Shadow that won a hill climbing championship (how cool would it be to have a video of that?) He also made plenty of frames for Kawasaki and Honda bikes of the 70s, and he’s still cranking out frames for bikes like the Yamaha V-Max. Here’s a lovely example of one of the period Egli-Vincent racers. So where does Patrick Godet come into play? A french ex-moto racer, Patrick got into the restoration of bikes and eventually got permission from Fritz Egli to be the sole manufacturer of new Egli bikes. He currently operates a dealership that will repair or restore your older Vincent, or sell you a ‘new’ bike in the spirit of 60s Egli-Vincent racers. Today, he offers to variants, a “Cafe Racer” and a “Sport GT”, both of which utilize an engine with Black Shadow specifications.

Vincent Egli Godet - Engine

This specific Vincent Egli Godet (EV425) has just 4,568 miles and is titled as a 1968, though it was built in 2005. It runs perfectly, though it will need a new front tire and there are two minor blemishes – one in the front fender and one by the fuel filler cap. What you need to understand is that the ‘new’ bikes from Godet are actually brand new – everything is built from scratch, but they meet certain specifications (specifically as a Vincent Black Shadow). It comes with 2 front heads, Amal Concentric carbs, electronic ignition, Alton alternator, and an electric starter.
