Post-Sale Update: After 13 bids on eBay, this Yamaha SR500 sold for a very reasonable $2,801.

The Yamaha SR500 has been a popular bike for decades, due to clean styling and a reliable single-cylinder engine. These traits have also led this bike to be the base for thousands of custom works, including choppers, dirt-trackers, and cafe racers. Here’s one that’s probably too nice to be cut up, at a surprisingly reasonable price.

Yamaha SR500 - Right Side

The SR500 was a street version of the XT500, with a 499cc air-cooled single that produced 31.5 horsepower and 27 pound feet of torque. Top speed was 91 miles per hour. It’ll be interesting to see how the market changes for these bikes now that Yamaha is bringing back the SR500 next month.

Yamaha SR500 - Cockpit

This specific Yamaha SR500 is in excellent shape with new tires, chain, battery, fork seal, fork springs, and more! It has just 9,375 miles and comes with a SuperTrapp exhaust. I think I’m in love.
