3-29-17 Update: Ray K notes that this beautiful Suzuki is back up for sale with another 40 miles on the odometer. Find it still in Oklahoma City with an unmet opening bid of $13,500

Post Listing Update: This Limited Edition Zook did not meet reserve with bidding up to $16,900.

If you had to pick one motorcycle from the 80s that will be worth silly amounts of money to collectors, the Limited Edtion of Suzuki’s GSX-R 750 would be a pretty damn good choice. It was 50% more expensive than the base bike, and it was worth every penny thanks to upgrades like a metal fuel tank, solo tail cowl, steering damper, and a dry clutch.

It was the most expensive Japanese sports bike available at the time, and Suzuki built less than 1,000 of them. They were great track weapons for the wealthy as they were 60 pounds lighter than the competition.

This example shows 4,799 miles on the odometer and it might sell for cheaper than the usual examples I featured thanks to some minor chips and scratches in the bodywork, as well as a “small soft dimple in the right hand upper rear corner of the tank.” The seller says that the bike is “spot on” mechanically, though the tires should be replaced due to age and one of the fork seals is starting to leak.
