4-25-2018 Update: A year later, this Silver Star is still up for sale – but now it’s got a $600 discount. Find it for $2,295 here on Craigslist.

If you’re looking for something simple that’s still rare, the MZ Silver Star might be right up your alley. Hopefully you’re the kind of person that can constantly put up with being asked what kind of bike you’re riding any time you stop! This example stands out as it’s the only one I’ve seen for years with hard bags for an extra dose of practicality.

The 494cc Rotax single was good for 34 horsepower and 26 pound feet of torque – not great numbers, but the bike only weighs 348 pounds fully fueled up. It offered both electric and kick starts, and there was an optional model called the Gespann which came with a factory sidecar. This example (VIN: SNZ5RSX00R6503819) has 20,646 miles and it’s said to run great. The seller will be installing a new battery before the next owner takes possession. It’s had substantial recent work and the seller will be including lots of extras – owner’s manual, Rotax factory manual for the drivetrain, technical bulletins, spare parts, and “a small stack of literature, articles, MuZ Dealer Application, price list, and full color dealer ads for the entire 1994 MuZ product line.” Turns out the seller almost became a dealer in 1994, which is why he has so many goodies.
