2004 BMW R1150R

In Germany, Less than 5k, Standard by AbhiLeave a Comment

BMW’s R1150R standard wasn’t a particularly sexy bike (I normally feature the Rockster variant when possible) but they’re excellent workhorses for taller commuters or people that just want to travel on two wheels, especially when equipped with a tall windscreen and factory luggage like this example features.

In 2004, BMW introduced the dual-spark version of the oilhead engine, which this bike benefits from. Benefits were claimed to include improved fuel economy and emissions, with no drop in power (roughly 80 horses and 70 foot-pounds of torque). The large tank offered up to 240 miles if you were gentle, and BMW soldiered on with the model until 2006 when it became the R1200R.

This example has about 13,500 miles and the seller says it’s in excellent condition, plus that it looks new thanks to being stored inside. In addition to the bags and windscreen mentioned above, it has highway pegs and auxiliary lights. It does not appear to have the optional ABS system, which can be a good thing 22 years later as they are expensive to rebuild if needed. It comes with factory manuals and a second key.

Find this R1150R for sale outside of Cortez, Colorado for $3,000 here on Craigslist.
