267 Miles – 1983 Honda VF750F Interceptor

Over on the auction site we’ve got one of the lowest-mile VF750Fs you’ll ever see. Bonus points because it’s a UK import so it’s got a livery that was never offered in the US, either!

For the ’83 season of AMA Superbike, 4-cylinder bikes were capped at 750 cubic centimeters of displacement. Honda decided to build the street bike around the existing engine from the Sabre, and included all kinds of innovations like a new perimeter frame, a new slipper clutch, fully adjustable air-assist Showa forks, and Honda’s TRAC anti-dive system in the front and the Pro-Link system in the back. All this tech, combined with what we believe is the greatest name in all of vehicle history, has led to a collector’s dream. Want to learn more? Check out this writeup from Motorcycle Classics, where they make the case that this might be the first sport bike.

This example (VIN: RC152002394014292) has just 267 miles and it was imported when new by two brothers in California that had a soft spot for fun imports (they’ll also be selling a CB1100R and a RC30 with us from Australia/New Zealand that both have less than 500 miles on them soon). The rode this around a little bit when new and then let the bikes sit for a while so they had us do a few things before listing it for sale: install a new battery, flush the hydraulic fluid, clean the turn signal switch, rebuild the front and rear brake master cylinders, change the oil/filter, flush the cooling system, clean/sync the carbs, and replace the rear shock. At this point it just needs tires to be a rider.
