A week ago, I reached out to see if any of you were interested in contributing to Bike-urious so we could increase the breadth and depth of featured bikes. I was ecstatic to see how many readers answered the call, and over the new few weeks you’ll be meeting some of them. Let’s meet another new contributor, JG Nelson!

View Post2011 Hammarhead Solo X
Based on the Ural sT, the Solo X was a custom that you could order from James Loughead, the man behind Hammarhead Industries. Suggested price was $12,500. This example is claimed to have been built for Ewan McGregor, and it has just 200 miles.
1983 Honda V65 Magna
The V65 Magna was a significant addition to the Honda line up for a number of reasons. It took the 2 year old V-4 design to a new size and speed possibility. For the first three years of it’s existance (1983-’85) the big Magna was listed by Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest production motorcycle in the world …
Guess That Bike Revealed – 1988 Norton Classic Rotary
Congratulations to Laurence Wynn, who was the first to identify yesterday’s “Guess That Bike”: a Norton Classic. It was a rare bike – Norton’s first rotary-powered bike made available to the public (they had first offered a prototype to the police), but I’m glad to be able to feature one for sale right now. It became an instant collectible thanks …
2016 Dakar Rally
It’s coming! January 2nd brings the 37th edition of the Dakar Rally, which of course now runs in South America. This year’s route will take 143 bikes (and 211 other vehicles) through Argentina and Bolivia.
Original Owner – 2008 KTM RC8 1190
12-28 Update: Almost 2 years later, this bike is back up for sale. It looks to be in similar shape, although mileage is now up to 9,950 (this may be a typo by the seller as it’s the same as the asking price) and the same asking price as before, of $9,950. Find it for sale in Central New Jersey …
$466 – Union Holland Moped
For less than $500, here’s a Union Holland moped – the seller doesn’t identify but I think it’s a Boomerang – that runs and drives.

See that engine? Do you know what bike it powers? Guess below in the comments and we’ll see who comes up with the correct answer first!
City of Hate – 1968 Honda CB350 Custom
Created by City of Hate Vintage Cycles, this bike was built to be raffled off at last year’s Rockers vs. Mods in Dallas. It was apparently popular enough that they sold out of raffle tickets, and the bike entered the Handbuilt Motorcycle Show before it was delivered to its new owner.

1963 Scott Flying Squirrel
12-27 Update: I don’t know how this bike is still for sale, but reader David N. spotted it with more details and more photos for the same $15,000 asking price here on ADVRider (registration required). Released in 1926, the Scott Flying Squirrel was an interesting motorcycle that placed third in the ’29 Isle of Man TT. A water-cooled 598cc twin, …
Turbo Triple – 2005 Triumph Rocket III
The Triumph Rocket III made quite the stir when it first came out in 2004, as it had the largest displacement engine fitted to mass production motorcycle – a whopping 2.3L unit that put out 140 hp. Fun fact: the STARTER motor on this bike makes as much power as Triumph’s first-ever motorcycle – just about 1.75 horses.
1985 BMW R80GS
Post Sale Update: After 15 bids on eBay, this GS sold for $7,200. Arguably the motorcycle that created the ‘adventure bike’ segment, the R80GS (and successors) has been invaluable to BMW. It’s also becoming harder and harder to find a good example.
