Built by Anything Goes Custom Cycles, this custom started as a Harley FXS. The builder (Curt Owen) is a big music fan, which is why he likes naming his projects after songs. “Anything Goes” is a reference to a Gregg Allman song, while this bike is named after a Monte Montgomery song called Moonlight Tango. The bike is “a combination …
1967 Wards Riverside 250 Benelli
If you grew up in the 1950s and ‘60s rural America (like I did) one of the really big things to watch for was the current editions of the Montgomery Wards and Sears catalogs. You could buy ANYTHING by mail from these two giant retailers. And you could certainly tell the interests of the whole family by the worn sections …
Bring The Family – 2006 Harley with Sidecar and Trailer
Thanks to a 2-person Hannigan sidecar and a Little Guy camper, this Harley is ready to carry 4 people and all of their stuff – or just two people that want to sleep with their bike. I’m trying to remember the last time I saw this amount of weight added to a motorcycle.

View PostHope You Like Chrome – 1967 Harley-Davidson XLCH
In official Harley parlance, the XLCH broke down as follows: XL = the Sportster model introduced in 1957, C = stripped down, and H = high performance. Enthusiasts were known to call the CH by a different name – California Hot Rod or Competition Hot. No matter what you called it, when it was first released in ’58 it was …

1977 Penton GS6 250
In 1977, Penton introduced the GS6 (GS = Gelande Sport where Gelande translates to terrain or off-road, 6 = number of speeds in the transmission). It had a similar frame to the MC5 motocross bike but it came with an orange enduro tank, side panels, and a number plate with a headlight.
1961 Rockford Silver Pigeon
In the 1950s and 60s, Rockford Scooter Company of Rockford, Illinois imported several Japanese lines for sale in the US. Bike-urious chronicles the importation of Bridgestone Motorcycles in 1963 right here. As it turns out, Rockford also signed a deal with Mitsubishi to import the ‘Silver Pigeon’ line. Rockford was aggressive in their marketing signing up a large dealer network …
Usable Custom – 1950 Harley Davidson FL Hydra Glide
I should know better than to even look at a HD on eBay. They are almost always wildly optimistic with their price and condition. I could see bling in the thumbnail, and I clicked. But this FL is one of those rare Harley’s that has been customized with out chopping or bobbing or wild paint or ape hangers or any …
Dealer Build – 2015 Ducati Scrambler Icon Custom
Beverly Hills Ducati is trying their hand at custom building bikes, and it looks like they’ve started with an Icon version of the Scrambler. What do you think about it?
1979 Can-Am MX 370
Can-Am first came to my attention in the early ‘70s in Snowmobiles. The Ski-Doo line was the king of the snow, in terms of both speed and handling. In 1972 Can-Am (the motorcycle arm of the company) introduced it’s first dirt bikes. By 1973 Can-Am swept the podium at the Scottish 6 Day Trials and their reputation was made. Can-Am …
1978 Harley Davidson MX-250
In 1961 Harley Davidson purchased 50% of Aermacchi Motorcycles (Italy) and began importing them in an effort to capture younger riders. The MX 250 was among the last of these, and by all reports, not a bad dirt squirter. In fact, Harley Davidson won the motorcycle division of the Baja 500 in 1975 with an SX 250.
New In Crate – 1994 Harley-Davidson Road King FLHR
Harley-Davidson introduced the Road King in 1994, as a replacement for the FLHS. Someone apparently thought a first-year model (production build #169) would be collectible, so he or she bought one and kept it in the crate until a few days ago. Will the investment pay off?
1 of 11 – 2009 Ecosse Iconoclast
Ecossee Moto Works was founded in 2001, and it took them 3 years before they were able to release their first bike – the Heretic. A few years later, they released another model called the Iconoclast in partnership with 20ltd, an online shop that solely offers limited edition design pieces and photography. Just 11 examples were offered and they all …
1947 Indian Chief
By now, many of you know that I am extremely fond of the post war Chiefs. It was the first motorcycle that I rode on and my personal obsession dates from that day in 1956. I just love the valanced fender Chiefs. In 1939 Indian went to Bonneville Salt Flats to set LSRs with Chiefs and Scouts. Out of that …
