Post-Sale Update: After 52 bids on eBay, this Fizzer sold for $6,455. When it was introduced in 1987, the Yamaha FZR1000 was an instant classic – Cycle World called it Bike of the Decade two years later, no thanks to the overwhelming amount of horsepower.
1983 Honda CX650T Turbo
Just one year after Honda released the CX500T (their first turbo’d production bike), they enlarged the motor and and created the CX650T instead. The big 4 Japanese firms all had turbocharged bikes during this time period, but Honda had one of the more successful experiments with about 1,200 CX650 Turbos exported to the US>
1973 Honda CB500 Cafe Racer
Here’s a simple cafe racer that has just 10 miles on it since a recent restoration. The Molly Orange is nice, though the shape of the tail doesn’t look perfect to me from the rear. Still, this would be a fun project to personalize and make your own, if one was so inclined.
Custom Scrambler – 1980 Yamaha XS650
Here’s a polarizing scrambler based on a Yamaha XS650 Special. The seller has apparently been cranking out XS-based customs for a few years now, so you’d hope that the quality was up to snuff (and the price is hard to argue with). That just leaves the styling up for debate.
Ex-Barry Sheene – 1979 Suzuki GS1000 Yoshimura Racer
View Post1981 Yamaha SR500 with Sidecar
First – I feel obligated to remind you that this bike sort of lives on as the new SR400. But if you’re looking for the OG (and you like having a third wheel), check out this ’81 with a Velorex 562 sidecar. This example has 12,000 miles and is claimed to run great. The seller built the rig when his …
Homologation Special in Canada – 1996 Kawasaki ZX7RR N-1
Post Sale Update: After 13 bids on eBay, this ZX7RR sold for $10,000. In 1996, Kawasaki’s production 750 sport bike was the ZX7R. But that year, like in certain years prior, they also produced a homologation special with a whole bunch of extra parts and an extra R at the end. Meet the ZX7RR N-1. Estimates suggest that 20 of …
Unexpected Trike -1972 Honda Mini Trail 50
Post-Listing Update: This Mini Trail Trike did not meet reserve with bidding up to $5,200 after 46 bids. For the finale of this season of Fast n Loud (which chronicles the story of Gas Monkey Garage, three employees at the shop were given a bike and $1,000 to fix it up for an internal bike build off for charity. The …
Cleanest Barn Find Ever – 1969 Suzuki TC120
The seller of this bike says it’s a barn find – well, the seller sure spent some time cleaning up the great lines of this simple two-stroke dual-sport, also known as the Trail Cat.
1981 Honda CB750F with Sputnik Sidecar
2-18-16 Update: Almost a year and a half later, this interesting hack is back up for sale. Now it’s in Playa del Rey with the same asking price ($4,500) here on Craigslist. Originally built by Mike Braverman of Dual Sport Sidecars out of Sylmar, CA, this is a Honda CB750F with Sputnik Sidecar that the seller says will be the …
Restored – 1970 Suzuki T350 Rebel
Before the name Rebel became synonymous with a small Honda cruiser, it was bestowed upon the middleweight of Suzuki’s two-stroke T series. The T350 was an evolution of the excellent 250 Hustler – it had the same frame and brakes – though in this case the displacement was actually just 315cc. The parallel twin engine put out 39 horsepower and …
In Canada – 1983 Suzuki XN85 Turbo
Post Listing Update: This XN85 only got up to $2,510 after 18 bids on eBay, where it understandably did not meet reserve. The rarest of all Japanese production turbo bikes, the XN85 Turbo had just 1,183 example produced, and 300 were imported to the US. Here’s a non-US model currently residing in Canada which is ready for a new owner.
From Thailand – 1965 Daihatsu Midget Tuk Tuk
Post Sale Update: After being relisted, this Tuk Tuk sold for $6,000 on eBay. As a brown guy, I call these awesome three wheelers ‘rickshaws’, but these are also known the world over as ‘tuk tuks’. No matter what you call them, they’re almost never found in the US. Even better, thanks to the lax rules in Florida, this is …
Race or Show? – Honda 200cc Vintage Race Bike
Based on a 1968 Honda CL175 engine, this bike has been prepared for track duty. The frame is a Taylor, the tank is aluminum, the body a CR93 Benly race replica. The engine is upped to 194cc with lots of go-fast mods in place—Norris cam, larger valves, ported heads, lightened clutch and crankshaft and the list goes on.
Well Restored – 1968 Honda CD175 K1
Most riders are familiar with Honda’s CB175 and CL175 – but bringing up the CD175 results in blank stares. Sold as a touring version of the 175 triplets, the CD was by all accounts a competent if slightly boring standard. With all that said, this is by far the nicest example I’ve ever seen, thanks to an impressive restoration job.
