In Italy, Race, Sport by AbhiLeave a Comment

I’m always surprised to see high dollar motorcycles on Craigslist, so I was doubly perplexed when I saw a listing for a couple of impressive old MV’s. Both are being offered by the same seller – we’ve got a: 1. 1956 MV Agusta CSS/5V Squalo Squalo is Italian for Shark, and the seller claims that this was a full factory …

AHRMA Racer – 1979 Yamaha YZ400

In Japan, Off-Road, Race by AbhiLeave a Comment

Here’s a cheap Yamaha YZ400 that the seller acquired earlier this year and then built up into a racebike that placed 2nd at this year’s Barber Vintage Festival. It’s got DID rims, Acerbis hand guards, DG pipe with FMF turbincore exhaust and more – the only problem seems to be sticker wear from the seller’s knee braces. Here’s your chance …

Here’s a Honda Interceptor Factory Superbike, built to compete in the 750cc class and of course built around the legendary Honda V-4. Here’s your chance to get a real factory racebike, though the seller’s stories about pedigree will need some verification. 1993 Honda CR500 Ice Racer

In Japan, Off-Road, Race by AbhiLeave a Comment

The Honda CR500 was a monster of a dirt bike, with the two-stroke engine putting out about 55 horsepower that were arguably difficult to control. The bike weighed 247 pounds, and it was terrifying enough that MXA magazine called it Mr. Hyde compared to the Dr. Jekyll of a much newer Honda CRF450, even though the latter is no slouch.

2007 Buell XBRR

In America, Race by AbhiLeave a Comment

A factory-built, $30,995 racebike, the Buell XBRR was Erik Buell’s effort at taking care of privateer racers, and it was specifically designed to compete in the AMA Formula Xtreme class. Oddly enough, that’s normally a race for modified 600cc bikes, and the XBRR uses a 1339cc Thunderstorm V-Twin. Still, that’s where AMA thought the Buell would be competitive. For more, …

This Honda VFR400 is a dedicated track bike that was rebuilt several years ago after being torn down to the frame. A recent engine refresh means it has just 2 track days and 15 dyno pulls on the odometer. That refreshed engine pushes out a dyno-verified 65 horsepower at the rear wheel, thanks to ported and skimmed cylinder heads, lightweight …

Bikes from this seller never seem to hit reserve, so if it doesn’t sell here I’m not going to bother updating this listing anymore. Still, find this bike (which will definitely need to get up to over $100k) for sale here on eBay. …
