Post Sale Update: This KTM sold for $4,280 after 16 bids on Iconic Motorbike Auctions in Santa Monica, California.
For 2005, KTM offered two versions of their track-only supermoto racer, the SMR. Both were named for approximate displacement, and the Austrians sold a 450 and a 525. The latter was fueled by a 41mm Keihin carb fed by a 1.9 gallon tank, and the entire package weighed just 241 pounds dry. It’s a red sticker bike (off-road and during certain months only) in California,so the seller of this example frame swapped it with a 2004 KTM 450 EXC to create an absurd supermoto for the street!
The seller of this example (VIN: VBKEXE408M142618) is a friend of ours at Yoshimura R&D of America, and he’s including several spare parts from the original bike. The bike has a Hinson slipper clutch, Yoshimura exhaust, Acerbis handguards, aftermarket pegs, Enduro Engineering seat, and KTM electric starter.
