Congrats to Kenneth Morris, who was the first to identify this bike as a Guazzoni Matta 50! Click through to learn a little bit more about this oddball Italian…
This is one of the bikes at the Two Stroke Extravaganza that I hadn’t heard of before (Picture Intermission with more bikes coming on Friday!)

The 50cc two-stroke rotary valve engine produced approximately 10 horsepower.

The carb/air filter are mounted to the side of the engine, so there’s a crash guard welded to the frame to protect it.

Matta is Italian for “Crazy”, and it was Guazzoni’s first commercial success.

Guazzoni had trouble competing with Japanese off-roaders and they went out of business in 1976.
