In Italy – 1954 MV Agusta CSS Disco Volante

In Italy, Sport by AbhiLeave a Comment

The MV Agusta Disco Volante (Italian for Flying Saucer, affectionately named due to the distinctive tank) was formally known as the 175 CSS. It was a popular “Super Sport” that’s a perfect candidate for your local Giro.

The DV had a 172cc engine that produced 14 horsepower, enough to get the 246 pound (dry) bike up to 84 miles per hour. For more information on the Flying Saucer, check out this write-up from Motorcycle Classics.

This example is said to have just one owner since new, though it’s gone through a three year restoration that “cost more than the sale price”. It has not been ridden since the work was done, and the seller states that it is being “sold as new and fully functional”. Find this Disco Volante for sale here on Catawiki (website is in Italian) with bidding up to approximately $4,720 in Ravenna, Italy.
