Misleading Cosmetics – 1937 Harley-Davidson Servicar

In 3 Wheels, America by Abhi2 Comments

Post-Sale Update: This Servicar sold for $20,000 after 45 bids on eBay.

When I first saw this listing, I assumed this Servicar hadn’t run since about 1938. Thankfully, my assumption was wrong – this thing works just fine!

Harley-Davidson Servicar - Tank

1937 was the first year with the 45 cubic inch engine – complete with recirc oil pump and it had a 1 year only dash. This Servicar was apparently found under a porch (that’s a big porch!) by Mike Wolfe of American Picker fame. Despite the immense aging of the cosmetics, this has been brought back to life enough that everything mechanical works – the transmission and clutch are a year old and there’s some new parts, but the seller says “the bike starts on the first kick and runs and goes as it should!” This was originally the delivery vehicle of a local service station called “Pringle’s”,

Harley-Davidson Servicar - Rear

The seller notes that a few reproduction parts were used, including the wiring harness, control cables, handlebar grips, battery, coil, gas caps, and 2 post relay. The only thing that’s left to do is to get the 1 year only drive unit for the speedo, though the seller has a lead on that for you…
