No Reserve – 1986 Honda XL600R

Post Sale Update: This XL600R sold for $2,476 after 18 bids on eBay in Carrollton, Kentucky.

Honda’s XL/XR series has been the mount of choice for enduro riders for decades, and the XL600R was a popular option in the 80s – Dirt Rider magazine said it was the best in the dirt of the open class dual purpose bikes (including the Kawasaki KL600 and Yamaha XT600).

The XL600R featured a 589cc, 45 horsepower engine – Cycle World claimed they were able to hit 103 miles per hour with it. The XL shared many components with the off-road oriented XR bike, like the frame, brakes, Pro-Link rear suspension, Showa forks, skid plate, and more.

This example has approximately 19,850 miles and it’s offered by the third owner. I’m a sucker for Honda’s red/white/blue livery on these bikes, though the gold forks/swingarm/wheels was only available for 1986. It looks to have been well-preserved, though it’s missing the chain guard and seat strap, plus the turn signals don’t work and there’s a tear in the seat. Still, for a 30+ year old dual-sport it does look to be in decent shape. The sale includes an extra wheel with a knobby tire as well.
