Bike-urious reader Victor M. is selling a nifty Olle Pettersson tribute bike that he rebuilt from the ground up, and the final product is fantastic when you see what he started with!
You can find additional details here, but highlights of the work include “new fork tubes, wheel bearings, brake shoes, custom 19″ front wheel, rebuilt crank, fresh top end, custom paint job, Bassani expansion chamber, interior rotor racing magneto, newly upholstered custom seat, new rims, spokes and tires.”
If you’re not familiar with Olle, Victor provides a great summary of his importance to Suzuki’s off-road program: “Olle Pettersson was a Swedish motocross racer and engineering developer back in the 1960’s…Suzuki hired him in 1967 and in 1968 he developed the 1968 TM250 (I included a photo that inspired this build!) which was a tremendous improvement over their previous designs and marked the first time Suzuki became competitive – and the first time the Suzuki name was noticed in the motocross world. Two years later they won the World Championship and dominated for years to follow in the early 1970’s with Joel Roberts and the great Roger DeCoster – forever changing the Suzuki name in motocross!” Olle would go on to do similar things for Kawasaki, and I recommend this site to learn more about his contributions to Japanese motocross!
Find this Pettersson tribute for sale in Scripps Ranch, California for $2,800 here on Craigslist.
