I first learned about Lightfighter while racing with AHRMA a few years ago. As many of you have seen, I’ve been racing a Kramer 690 in Sound of Singles 1, which is why I frequently find myself in Kramer’s pit during race weekends. As Lightfighter notes in their own blog, they were sharing a lot of resources with Kramer and even using Kramer bodywork – the first time I saw a LF, I thought it was a Kramer that they were doing electrical powertrain experiments with. But they are very much an independent company, and now that they are competing in MotoAmerica Super Hooligans with V3 of their machine, Lightfighter has also arranged several opportunities for folks to try their machines out on the track!
I met up with CEO Brian Wismann again at the Quail recently (where their bike won the “Why We Ride” award) and I asked Brian to share a little bit about Lightfighter’s story:
Did you see that Josh Herrin just got a 2nd place in Hooligans on the V3-RH at Barber?
There are three ways you can try this bike out for yourself:
1. A California tour of six public track days where you can try the bike out for a few laps. Some of the Iconic crew will be at the Volant Vivere day at Laguna Seca on July 5th but I unfortunately won’t be able to attend.
2. If you’ve got a bit more scratch, they have a “Private Track Experience” where you can join them for a testing day with their race team (OrangeCat Racing) at either CotA (9/15-16) or LVMS (11/4-6) and basically feel like a factory supported racer – they take care of everything and you just pile on the laps.
3. Fly and Ride Racing with AHRMA – similar to #2 but you’re getting out there and racing! They have this option at Autobahn Country Club (6/5-7) or Barber Vintage Festival (10/8-11), I’ll be racing at Barber and would love to see you there!
I figure most people will likely be looking for the first option, which appears to be free (ignoring all the other costs of a trackday) – you can check that out in more detail here. What do you guys think about this bike? I look forward to hearing if anyone gets the chance to try one!
