Rare in the US – 1991 Honda XRV750 Africa Twin

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last couple of years, you know that Honda has brought back the Africa Twin with a lot of fanfare. The new bike has been well received, but the reason the name has so much value is because previous generations (like the XRV750 featured here) were excellent bikes. It’s even more interesting for Americans because this generation was never officially imported to the US. This is one of the most comprehensive listings I’ve seen on Craigslist in months, and it’s for a fantastic bike – I just have to feature it!

This generation of the AT was a little on the heavy side, and it was slightly down on power compared to the competition thanks to an understressed motor. But that simply meant that you can expect an honest six figures out of the motor as long as maintenance was taken care of. Despite the weight, it was highly capable off-road and well setup for overlanding thanks to a 6.1 gallon fuel tank, 3 radiators, 11.5 inches of ground clearance, and triple disc brakes. For 156(!) more photos of this big enduro, check out the seller’s album here on SmugMug. For more information on this generation of the Africa Twin, check out this review on MCN.

This example has $1,600 in upgrades, including Hepco-Becker luggage racks, two inches of lift in both ends of the suspension, stainles steel brake lines, GIVI trunk, a new RaceTech HyperPro rear shock, ROX 2″ bar risers, Wirth progressive springs in the front forks, a longer side stand, skid plate, Coyote-Gear dashboard, a custom cross bar, longer rear inner mud guard, sand dune flag mount, and more. The sale includes several OEM extras like fork springs, passenger foot peg mounts, radiator guards, seat, fuel tank, and more. The amount of information the seller includes in the listing is almost overwhelming and it’s greatly appreciated.

If you’ve been looking for a RD04 XRV750 Africa Twin for sale, it would be hard to pass over this example. Find it here on Craigslist for $5,250 in San Diego, California.
